A new web page has been set up to coincide with the commemoration of the outbreak of the First World War.

Kirklees Council has designed the page to provide residents with information about centenary activities in the area.

The webpage www.kirklees.gov.uk/lestweforget details upcoming events and activities across Kirklees, along with information about exhibitions and talks at museums and libraries.

There is also information about the war memorials across the district and links to resources for those interested in researching WWI or their own family history.

Community education manager Joanne Catlow said: “There are a wide variety of commemoration projects and activities being planned by groups and individuals across the many towns and villages in Kirklees.

“The webpage has been created to allow groups to promote their projects and also to provide the public with a wide range of information and resources. We expect to be continually adding items to the webpage throughout the anniversary period 2014-2018.”

Contact Joanne Catlow via 01484 221000 or email lestweforget.kirklees@kirklees.gov.uk for more information.
