Young Lucy Bracewell’s Christmas wish of becoming Santa’s little helper has come true thanks to her local garden centre.

The Birkenshaw Primary pupil , age five, sent a picture to Tong Garden Centre, in Bradford stating she wanted to help Father Christmas. She wrote: “To Santa and all of yurr reindeers, I love you but I wish I cud be yurr little Santa Lucy helpe”.

Staff at the centre were happy to oblige and asked Lucy and her sister Megan to open the centre’s Santa’s grotto.

Tong’s marketing manager Jo Dales said: “We were charmed by Lucy’s approach and invited her and Megan to perform the official opening of the grotto.

“We were delighted that Lucy was able to help us to celebrate the opening of Tong’s very special grotto experience.”

Lucy and her family were the first to go through the grotto experience and witness Santa’s daredevil arrival at Tong, arranged with the Parachute Regiment’s Red Devils.

Lucy’s mum Sarah said: “We want to say a massive thank you to all the Staff at Tong Garden Centre. Lucy’s wish has come true and was an amazing experience she will never forget.”

Santa will be in his grotto every weekend until the end of November, daily during December.

The 45 minute grotto experience includes a winter wonderland walk, a festive fairytale with Santa and a visit to Santa’s elves’ workshop to choose a gift.

Booking is necessary and the cost is £10 per child and free for two accompanying adults.

Bookings can be made at the centre or online at www.tonggardencentre.co.uk
