Mirfield crime report: Rifle stolen and vandals damage cars

A number of vehicles were vandalised in Mirfield last week, with thieves even making off with an air rifle from one of the cars.

The paintwork of Vauxhall Astra was scratched in Finching Grove, Crossley Hill on Saturday May 16 at 4.40pm.

And the tyres of an Audi Q7 were damaged when the car was parked in Bracken Close, Mirfield Moor, on Monday May 18 at around 11am.

A polytunnel was also damaged in Crossley Fields Junior School in Wellhouse Lane, Crossley, at around 6.30pm on Wednesday May 20.

In one of the more unusual crimes of the week, thieves made off with plant pots from a front garden in Sunny Bank Avenue, Sunny Bank. The crime took place at around 11.30am on Thursday May 21.

A phone was smashed in a phone box in Huddersfield Road, Mirfield at around 8.55pm on Thursday May 21.

And police said the window of a Mitsubishi Shogun was smashed at around 1am on Saturday May 23.

Thieves also made off with an air rifle from the car which was parked in Park Avenue, Blake Hall.
