A Mirfield Town councillor is hoping to step up to a role with Kirklees Council after he was selected as the Tory candidate for a Dewsbury ward in the upcoming council elections.
Councillor John Nottingham, who currently represents the Battyeford ward in Mirfield, has been selected by local party members as the candidate for Dewsbury West.
