Councillors have been asked to rank the roads which are most in need of resurfacing.

Kirklees Council documents state that it is “probable” that between just 15 to 20 roads per annum will be chosen for work across the entire district during the next two years.

District committee councillors were asked to name the “unclassified” roads – those not on main commuting routes – which needed the greatest attention from a priority list. Reports will be drafted from each committee and presented to Cabinet.

Roads included in the list for North Kirklees are:

Dewsbury East - Ashworth Road, Sugar Lane, Walnut Lane, Sharp Street, Mill Road, Hirst Road, Sands Road, Bright Street, Alfred Street, Victoria Road, Wakefield Crescent and Princess Road.

Dewsbury West - Lee Road, Oastler Street, Groves Hall Road, Park Parade, Park Croft, Bradbury Street, Mavis Avenue, Ravenswharfe Road and Mitre Road.

Dewsbury South - Bretton Street, Centenary Square, High Street and Chapel Close.

Mirfield - Crossley Lane, Back Lane, Fox Royd Avenue, Armoury Avnue and Bracken Hill.

Cleckheaton - Crown Street and Claremont Street.
