The Mayor of Kirklees is urging people to back this year’s Poppy Appeal.

Coun Martyn Bolt said the link between local communities and the sacrifices members of the armed forces had made had been brought into sharp focus in the last couple of years.

He added: “While military action can feel like it is a world away from here, the cost of the numerous conflicts taking place around the world are felt in our own communities.”
