Stuart aims to hit new heights with paramotor challenge

When contemplating ways to raise money for a good cause, it's fair to say Stuart Grace came up with an original idea.

Stuart wants to raise £12,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) - and he aims to do it by paramotoring the entire length of the country.

Stuart, who turns 50 next month, is setting himself the bold target of travelling from Land’s End to John O’Groats in a powered hand-gliding machine.

Despite never having used the form of transport before, he is keen to try fulfill a personal goal and raise vital funds for YAA at the same time.

Stuart, who has worked for Dewsbury firm A W Lumb and Co for the past 18 years, said: “Each week when I’m driving around the county, I’ll see at least one crew from YAA.

“I just thought it would be good to help them and why not do it by doing something a bit different.

“The journey is a long one, and probably a hard one, but it’s for a very good cause.

“I’ve always wanted to fly around Emley Moor mast on my own so I thought why not do it by paramotor and travel the whole length of the country.”

Before he takes on the solo jaunt, Stuart must undertake a certain level of training and therefore has set a date of June 2018 for his challenge.

Stuart added: “It should take me about seven days to complete.

“I want to raise around £12,000 - which is the amount the YAA have to spend each day to keep going.”
