A MIRFIELD woman has been left devastated after thieves stole her precious collection of old postcards.
Christine Leveridge said she was in ‘complete despair’ over the loss of the 600 or so cards of old Dewsbury and district.
Raiders broke into her home in Nab Lane, trashed the house and took jewellery and three safes containing the postcards.
The fireproof safes were bolted into the floor.
“They just ripped them up,” said Mrs Leveridge, who is desperate to get the cards back.
She said the postcards were not worth much in money terms but have huge sentimental value for her, as she built up the collection over 25 years and had recently written a book about them.
“Those cards are my life,” said Mrs Leveridge.
