A tractor has crashed into a pharmacy in Liversedge after the driver lost control.

It is believed the throttle got stuck as the tractor turned into Valley Road just before 10.30am today (Sunday).

The tractor crashed into the front of Shah’s Pharmacy, damaging the wall and roof.

Firefighters from Cleckheaton were called to support police and paramedics, who treated the driver for minor head injuries.

Watch commander Gary Hatton said: “We were thinking somebody was going to be trapped in the tractor, but the driver was already out.

“We’ve isolated it, set up a cordon and requested other agencies attend.”

Kirklees Council is due to send staff to cut the supply to a streetlight knocked over by the tractor and assess the structural damage to the building.

A team from Northern Powergrid are also due to cut the electric supply to the building.
