GREATLY MISSED Mohammed Laher, 33, who died in his sleep.

Staff at Batley Business and Enterprise College have paid tribute to a former pupil and “inspirational” science teacher who has died aged 33.

Mohammed Laher passed away peacefully in his sleep on the December 23.

The school said he was a popular teacher and a wonderful man who was much-loved by staff and students alike.

Mohammed had grown up in the Batley area, and several members of staff at the college not only worked alongside him, but can remember teaching him when he was a pupil.

Headteacher Sam Vickers said: “He will be greatly missed by all of us.

“Mohammed was a fantastic man and an inspirational science teacher.

“He made everyone laugh and was a great team player. Everyone knew and loved Mohammed.

“He has a wonderful wife and a young son and on behalf of all staff, students and governors, our condolences and best wishes are with the whole family at this sad time.”

She added: “It still seems unreal that we have lost such a wonderful young man. It is hard to even begin to imagine how his family must be feeling.”

“The school has opened a book of condolences this week so that staff and students can write their best memories of Mohammed and tributes. This will then be passed on to his family.

“Mohammed had some superb times at the school, and there will be many wonderful stories to recall.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family.”
