CHRISTIAN women from churches across Mirfield came together to mark Women’s World Day of Prayer.

The Salvation Army hosted the special service last Friday for members of all churches across the town to celebrate.

Women’s World Day of Prayer is a global movement aiming to encourage people across the world to pray on the same theme.

This year’s theme was How Many Loaves Have You? and was prepared by women from Chile, South America.

It asked worshippers to think about how they could help others in life.

In Mirfield, the service was led by Captain Sandy Davis from the Salvation Army, and the speaker was Curate Katherine Macpherson from Mirfield Team Parish.

The congregation dressed as Chilean women to mark the event and some gave readings prepared by the women of Chile on the theme of the day.

The day was celebrated in more than 170 countries across the world, and more than 5,000 services were held in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
