Letter: Volunteers help make Mirfield Show

I am pleased to be able to report that we had another successful Mirfield Show again this year. The weather was kind, although I did get a bit wet during a couple of morning showers.

But it takes more than that to dampen Yorkshire spirits and visitors came in their thousands.

I would like to pay tribute to our organising committee, all volunteers, who spend all year in the planning of the event. They are a dedicated and very hardworking bunch. Their organisation paid off and all went very smoothly. It is a pleasure to work alongside them.

A very big thank you, too, to the army of volunteers who give up their time over the weekend to help with the event.

Last but not least, I would like to thank the businesses who sponsored event, prizes and advertising. In these difficult times, it must be hard to divert funds to our event. Thank you

I would like particularly to thank DFS Huddersfield who were our main sponsors of the show. And I would like to especially mention Mirfield Town Council who contributed with a generous amount despite them going through challenging times financially. It is very much appreciated.

We try to put on an entertaining day with the focus on families and, being Yorkshire folk, we like good value. We welcome comments and suggestions and you can contact us at www.mirfieldshow.com.
