DEWSBURY Rams have asked the Rugby League's Controller of Referees Stuart Cummings to study a recording of the game at Featherstone after two vital issues affected the outcome.
The Rams were concerned that a try for Scott Turner from a Dominic Brambani kick was disallowed by the touch judge when referee Gareth Hewer seemed set to award it, having waved play on.
The second incident came in the last minute when Brambani land
ed a 40-20 and the Dewsbury players rushed to form the scrum as often happens.
The referee signalled for the clock to be stopped but apparently it wasn't done so and the hooter blew before the scrum could become operational.
Rams' coach Warren Jowitt also felt a try by Liam Finn came from a double move but they regard that as part and parcel of the game, although so many decisions seem to have gone against Dewsbury of late as they battle to get away from the relegation zone.
A frustrated Jowitt remarked: "It's beyond a joke. Scott's try was disallowed because we did not give the Featherstone players 10 yards from the kick. But we didn't have to because all our players were onside and the video shows that. When the ball was kicked the referee waved us onside and the touch judge didn't put his flag up."
Jowitt said Brambani's touch kick for the final scrum was a quality effort. He added: "It wasn't so much a 40-20 as a 70-20. Our players formed the scrum and the referee stopped the clock so they stepped back.
"Then the hooter went and the referee ended the game. But if the referee has stopped the clock the hooter can't go.
"We should have had the ball for at least one tackle. Whether we would have scored or not nobody knows but we should have had the chance."
Jowitt was also angry at the try awarded to Featherstone's Liam Finn, claiming it was a clear double move. He went on: "They said he wasn't held but the video shows Andy Bostock clearly lying on him.Luke Blake also scored a try for us which wasn't a score because he didn't ground the ball and the video clearly shows that as well.
"This isn't sour grapes. I'm not one of those coaches who picks up the phone and moans to the league about referees because I don't believe it does you any good. I've only complained once when I felt we had a strong case."
The Rams' boss stressed: "I feel for the lads because they put a massive amount of effort in at Featherstone and got nothing.
"We conceded 16 points early on but were on top for the majority of the game and came back to lead. If we were getting 50-50 decisions and letting in bad tries, then that's our fault, but I don't know what the problem is with match officials.
"We looked at the video and I showed the lads how we had blown five clear-cut chances last Sunday. They couldn't believe it.
"Featherstone scored some good tries but the majority were gift wrapped by us and we have to cut that out.
"They have lost only once this season and we had them in all sorts of trouble. That first win for us is just around the corner and when it comes it will be a good one."
