DEWSBURY boxer Gary Sykes is the new British super featherweight boxing champion following a thrilling points victory over Manchester's Andy Morris in Huddersfield on Friday night.
Sykes was involved in one of the best British title contests for many years but came out on top after 12 gruelling rounds.
It was the biggest night of Sykes's career and he didn't disappoint his huge support, to become the first Dewsbury fighter in history to win a Lonsdale belt.
See next week's Reporter for a report and pictures on Friday's fight, together with interviews with the Sykes camp and his promoter Frank Maloney.
