DEWSBURY Moor gave their Conference opponents a major fright in the National Cup second round and hosts Ovenden held on at the end to win 34-26.
Moor started well and a smart move ended as Sean Bradley cut through to score. Gaz Hull added the goal. Ovenden hit back with a try and goal and struck again after 12 minutes to take a lead they never lost.
Two further tries and a goal put Ovenden in command but Moor refused to lie down and straight running by Graham Carr brought a second try. Ovenden scored again to lead 24-10.
The second half was well balanced with neither side taking control until Ovenden scored a sixth try.
Still Moor came back with Sean McNamara racing over before the hosts struck again to lead 34-14.
Moor dominated the later stages with a try and goal by Hull before Bradley went in for his second. This set things alight and Moor piled on the pressure but Ovenden held out.
