LIVERSEDGE continued their recent good form when they came from two goals down to earn a fourth straight victory in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division last Saturday.

The Clayborners made the worst possible star
t and found themselves 2-0 adrift inside 20 minutes.

Charlie Weir was on the end of a fine four-man passing move as he rounded goalkeeper Stuart Wilkinson to put the visitors ahead after eight minutes.

It got even better for Dinnington when Michael Blythen – who had impressed when the sides met earlier in the season – put Town 2-0 up and Liversedge must have been worried that their recent good run was coming to an end.

The home side managed to pull a goal back when Scott Ryan’s cross was chested down by Joel Etienne and Brook Newton was there to slot home and make it 2-1 at half-time.

Liversedge drew level after an hour when Newton turned provider, sending over a teasing free-kick which evaded the defence and Scott Ryan stole in at the far post to sidefoot home.

The comeback was completed after 79 minutes when in-form striker Jamie Wasley found Newton and although his initial shot was parried by the visiting goalkeeper, substitute Andy Philps was on hand to tap home the rebound.

Blythen was sent off in injury-time for the visitors as Liversedge maintained their impressive recent run, which leaves them lying seventh in the Premier Division table with scope for further rises.

Liversedge: Wilkinson, Haigh, Larkin, Jordan, Springer, Shuttleworth, Hardy, Etienne, Wasley, Newton, S Ryan. Subs: Philps, Lawler, L Ryan.
