Loney to lead Trojans

NATIONAL Conference side Thornhill Trojans have confirmed the appointment of Wayne Loney as their head coach.
Loney is still a registered player at Thornhill and was working as Andy Kelly’s assistant until the Ireland coach stepped down.

Loney played for the Trojans’ junior teams before breaking into the first team in 1995/96.

However, his career suff
ered when he picked up a serious shoulder injury during a trial game for Sheffield Eagles.

Wayne has called a players’ meeting for next Thursday, December 3 at the club at 8.15pm.

All current registered players are invited as well as new players interested in playing for the club.

Thornhill’s game was hit by the weather last weekend but the Trojans had James Craven, Scott Green and Ben Kendall with the Yorkshire open age side and Jordan Drummond with the county Under-19s.

Thornhill are due to resume in Division One at Millom tomorrow and the Cumbrian club were checking the condition of their pitch last night after all the bad weather problems up there.

Thornhill are running a bus to the game. Players and supporters are asked to meet at 9am at the club and the fare for spectators is £7.

Supporters are advised to ring Keith Mason at the club on Friday evening on 01924 455090 to check if the game is on.
