THORNHILL bowed out of the Carnegie Challenge Cup at the first round stage.

The Trojans were always playing catch up as Lane made a flying start when Steve Scott scored a try, converted by Danny Rowse.

The Trojans defence was unlocked as the home side racked up two tries in as many minutes by Andy Matthews and Tom Wood.

Matthews and Scott added a second try each. After the break Matthews completed his hat-trick.

The Trojans finally got into the game with a well worked try by Rob Long.

Lane struck again through Mark Spears before Richard Bostock tried to add some respectability to the score with a good try, converted by James Craven. A sad defeat for the Trojans who were the toast of the competition just a decade ago.
