Hartshead secure home win after second half show

Hartshead produced an impressive second half display as they earned a 3-0 win at home to Wetherby Athletic in West Yorkshire League Division One last Saturday.

Hartshead came to life following a goalless first half and strikes by Liam Gowan, Stuart McCallum and Liam Roache secured their eighth win of the season which leaves them in fifth place.

Howden Clough slipped to third-bottom in the table after they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Leeds Modernians, who leapfrogged them.

Hunsworth are up to 10th place in Division Two after they recorded a 3-1 win over Ripon City.

Kieran Senior bagged a brace, while Toby Aspindle also netted to secure Hunsworth’s third win of the season.

Hartshead Reserves slipped to a 7-2 defeat away to Huddersfield Amateur Reserves in Alliance Division One despite goals from Stephen Smith and Jordan Tailford.

Howden Clough moved ninth in Alliance Division Two after Ashley Woods (two), Simon Moore and Colby Dawson scored in a 4-3 win at Kippax Reserves, while Rahuf Mak and Thomas Conway netted but couldn’t prevent Wyke Wanderers Reserves losing 8-2 at East End Park Reserves.

Matthew Conway struck a brace but it wasn’t enough to prevent Wyke Wanderers bowing out of the West Riding County Challenge Cup after a 4-3 defeat to Sowerby Bridge.
