THE pressure on the teams battling it out for the second automatic promotion spot in npower Division One was lifted up a notch on last night when Sheffield United earned a 4-1 win at home to bottom club Chesterfield.
United 76 points leapfrogged over Sheffield Wednesday who are now two points behind United, while Huddersfield Town are fourth, five points behind United but with a game in hand, which they play next Tuesday night at Leyton Orient.
Effectively it means that there is no room for any slip-ups by any one of the teams.
Huddersfield Town travel to Carlisle on Saturday to face a team who are keen to cement their place in the play-offs. Greg Abbott’s side overcame MK Dons 2-1 last Tuesday night.
