Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale offered a timely boost to Cleckheaton’s Bradford League Division One title challenge in last Saturday’s clash with Manningham Mills.

Gale continued his road back to fitness following a hand injury by playing for the Moorenders and he top scored with 66, in an innings that included a six and 11 fours.

He shared a 104-run stand with Cleckheaton captain John Wood (54) as they reached 230-7.

Adal Islam made 44 in reply but Mills were bowled out for 139 as Andrew Deegan took 4-38 to help Cleckheaton claim a maximum 20 points.

They moved 28 points clear of champions Woodlands, who suffered a surprise 80-run defeat to struggling Bradford & Bingley.

Woodlands enjoyed the seamer friendly conditions at Bingley as Sarfraz Ahmed (5-45) and Pieter Swanepoel (3-44) impressed to dismiss the hosts for 179.

However, Woodlands were then bowled out for just 99 in reply as Jack Hartley claimed 6-44.

East Bierley recorded an emphatic win over bottom side Saltaire as their former player Tabbi Bhatti cracked an excellent 123.

Mark Gill made 61 before Andrew Rennison struck 65 off just 26 balls as Bierley closed on 333-4.

Luke Jarvis (3-31) and Kez Ahmed (3-34) helped dismiss Saltaire for 160.

Hanging Heaton suffered a 38-run defeat to Pudsey St Lawrence as Mark Robertshaw (91) top scored in their 249-8.

Gary Fellows made 93 in reply, passing 1,000 club runs in the process but Heaton were dismissed for 211.
