FOUR first half goals condemned Liversedge to a derby defeat away to Thackley in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division last Saturday.
A brace from Nicky Matthews and further goals by Callum White and Dempsey Smith had Thackley 4-0 up after 32 minutes and although Sedge stemmed the flow from there, they were unable to get back into the game.
Cleckheaton RU suffered a narrow 22-15 defeat at the hands of Wheatley Hills, who moved up to second place in North One East.
Johnno Marshall and Richard Piper were Cleckheaton’s try scorers, while Iain Gordon added a conversion and a penalty but the Moorenders had to settle for a losing bonus point.
Elsewhere, the amateur football and rugby programmes were severely hampered after Kirklees closed all council managed pitches last weekend following recent poor weather.
