IT proved to be a memorable weekend for Soyeb Patel, who produced two sensational innings.
The Dewsbury cricketer began by blasting 169 as he helped Crigglestone to a comprehensive victory over Denby Grange in Section B of the Huddersfield Central League last Saturday.
Soyeb certainly had his eye in as he continued his excellent form during Sunday’s Dewsbury District League match for Dewsbury Young Stars against Fox’s Biscuits at Hyrstlands Park in Batley.
Opening the batting, Soyeb smashed 28 off the first over and continued to produce some lusty blows, racing to his century off just 28 balls.
Soyeb hit an incredible 94 runs in boundaries, as he blasted 16 sixes and four fours before he was eventually out for 106.
However, Soyeb’s incredible knock wasn’t enough to prevent the Young Stars slipping to defeat as they were bowled out for 252 in reply to Fox’s Biscuits’ 291.
Soyeb’s 106 wasn’t the highest score of the day in the Dewsbury District League last Sunday though as Irfan Darr smashed an impressive 163 to help Friends XI post 306 in 40 overs on their way to a 154-run success over Dewsbury in Section B. Dewsbury District League scores: Page 53.
