Upper Hopton remain four points clear at the top of Huddersfield Central League Section A with two matches remaining.

They gained a comprehensive six-wicket win over Birkby Rose Hill B last Sunday and will be aiming to take another step towards the title when they travel to Woolley B this week before they meet second placed Upperthong in a potential title decider on the final day of the season.

Despite dropping several catches, Hopton managed to dismiss Birkby for 126 with Asif Nawaz claiming 5-22.

Veteran Ian Wightman led the Hopton reply with 35 to steer them to victory.

Mount slipped off top spot in the Premier Section last Sunday after they were frustrated by Green Moor.

Mount had suffered league and cup defeats to Green Moor and were in trouble again after being reduced to 64-4 batting first.

Captain Hasan Patel led the revival, top scoring with 80 and he shared an impressive partnership with Imran Sayed Patel (62) and they closed on 263-8.

Green Moor struggled at the start of their reply and were reduced to 35-7 with Riyaz Motala claiming 4-15.

However, Green Moor dug deep and with N Dowkes finishing unbeaten on 40, they reached 97-7 at the close to deny Mount maximum points.

Thurstonland moved a point above Mount after beating Holmbridge by 10 wickets.

Heckmondwike & Carlinghow earned a six-wicket win over Silkstone in their Premier Section game last Sunday.

Silkstone were struggling on 33-8 at one stage before eventually being bowled out for 93 with Chris Allen (4-15), Paul Cooper (3-18) and Jonathan Elstub (2-34) doing the damage.
