Dil Shaw Memorial Concert

A NIGHT of Motown in memory of a much-loved musician is coming to Low Moor Working Men’s Club.

A concert to remember Dil Shaw, who saw success in groups and as a solo artist, will see his colleagues, friends and even his family perform to raise money for Diabetes UK.

Dil supported the Rolling Stones and Roy Orbison before they were famous and toured clubs around the country – and now his son, daughter and even his six-year-old granddaughter will take to the stage in his name.

Sammy King, Leo Kenny, Paul Harper, Brenda Martine, Chrissie White, John E Harper and a host of other acts are on the bill for the concert on Wednesday (November 7) with Mike Smith of Mike’s Carpets as compere.

Dil’s partner, Pat Dent, and local businesses have also donated raffle prizes for the fundraiser, which begins at 8pm.

More than £500 was raised for Diabetes UK at Dil’s funeral and now his family hopes to add to the total.

Tickets cost £5. Email nickiishaw@gmail.com. The club is in Huddersfield Road, Low Moor.
