Mirfield goes morrismad for coronation
Morris dancers will be whipping out their hankies on Saturday for Mirfield Coronation Festival of Dance.
The town will become a magnet for morris dancing fans to mark the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation.
Groups from Lincolnshire, Barnsley, Sheffield, Darlington, Saddleworth and Wakefield will show off their skills on June 8 from noon.

Hide AdThe event is being hosted by Mirfield Town Council and host side Wakefield Morris Dancers.
The dance locations are the Old Colonial, Pear Tree, Airedale Heifer, Flower Pot and Ship Inn pubs and the library. A trophy will be awarded to the most popular side at the Old Colonial.
Morris dancing is based on rhythmic stepping and the execution of choreographed figures by a group of dancers, usually wearing bell pads on their shins.
