Rising comedystar leaves ’em laughing all the way from Leeds

Paul Chowdhry performed his new show, PC’s World, to a delighted City Varieties last week, which lampooned topics such as race, attitudes and political correctness.

Fans of Chowdhry will know of his love for making fun of Britain’s tapestry of cultures – including his own – and nobody was safe in his two-hour rollercoaster of cultural parody and risqué humour.

But Chowdhry’s ability to build a rapport with his audience shows he is more than just a shock-comic, and he displayed great dexterity batting away all attempts at heckles with ease. Three overexcited audience members tried to derail his set several times, yet this appeared to be music to the ears of Chowdhry, who took delight in wiping the floor with them, almost daring anyone else to have a go.

He befriended several members of the crowd seated close-by at the beginning of his show, cleverly using them as comic foils throughout the set, which kept his act fresh.

Ultimately, jokes either come from a good or a bad place, and Chowdhry’s evident love for his audience means taking offence is the last thing on anyone’s mind.

It is this interaction which makes Chowdhry a unique entertainer – poignantly summed up in a late one-two with an audience member:

”It is what it is, isn’t it?”

“Yeah, it is.”
