All out for rounders fun in Mirfield

Fancy a game of rounders? A local business is resurrecting the classic schoolyard game and is organising a charity tournament in Mirfield.

Birstall-based healthcare provider Essential Group has hired pitches at Hopton Mills Cricket Club on Sunday August 14 and is inviting companies to enter teams in the fun event.

Proceeds will go to Kirkwood Hospice and spectactors are welcome to attend and watch the bat-and-ball action, with entry just £2. Each squad should be made up of nine players.

The tournament is open to both men and women of all abilities who are over the age

Kirkwood Hospice fundraiser Lyndsey Richardson said: “We can’t wait to work with the team at Essential on this fantastic event. Rounders is a great game which can be played by people of all ages and abilities.

“We hope the event will bring the community together to enjoy a fun day out. A team from Kirkwood is taking part and we are really excited already.”

Stalls, refreshments and other entertainment will be provided on the day.
