Ambulance services in Kirklees hit by snow

YORKSHIRE Ambulance Service has asked the public only to call 999 in cases where someone has a life-threatening illness or injury.

The ambulance trust said it was doing all it could to get out to emergency calls but was cancelling non-emergency journeys with its patient transport service for people due to attend routine hospital appointments weekend.

A spokeswoman said: “We would like to reassure the public that we are making every effort to get to patients as quickly, and as safely, as possible despite the severe weather conditions and extremely hazardous driving conditions for our ambulance crews.”
