Appeal to find good samaritan who helped pensioner before he died

Police have re-issued an appeal for a witness who helped an elderly gentleman at the Household Waste and Recycling Centre on Nab Lane, Birstall on Thursday April 21, to come forward.

The man officers want to trace helped the pensioner dispose of garden waste from his Skoda vehicle and it is thought he witnessed the man suffer a serious head injury.  

The 82-year-old was taken to hospital but died later that day.

He has been formally identified as Geoffrey Malcolm Naylor from Gomersal.

A photograph of Mr Naylor has been released by his family in the hope it will help trigger the man’s memory. 

Officers are hoping to speak to the man who assisted Mr Naylor as a witness to the incident. He is described as white, wearing shorts and possibly aged in his 40s.
