A gang armed with knives and metal bars stormed a Ravensthorpe home – but left with nothing.
The incident happened at around 6.30pm on Monday when six or seven people forced the front door of a property in Bradbury Street.
The men demanded property and forced a man inside the house onto the floor. The victim was then hit in the face causing swelling and bruising.
The man then left the premises without taking anything.
Some of them went down a ginnel and the rest got into a black Volkswagen Beetle which drove off towards North Road.
Of the six or seven people officers want to speak to in connection with the incident, one is described as 25 years old, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build and wearing a cotton dark coloured hooded top with the hood pulled over the face. He was dark skinned, possibly black.
A second man was white, aged 25, 6ft tall, of stocky build and wearing a grey coloured hooded top with the hood up. He had an upturned nose and was carrying a knife.
A third man is described as white, aged in his mid-20s, 6ft tall, of stocky build and wearing a dark coloured hooded top. He was holding a metal bar.
Det Con Richard Brooke, of Kirklees CID, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnesses this or saw a large group of men acting suspiciously around this time to get in contact.”
