Bed firm helps quake survivors

A MIRFIELD bedding firm has donated 1,700 duvets to help the three million homeless survivors of the South Asian earthquake.

Dewsbury dentist Nabila Minhasa and Naheed Mirza, a solicitor from Wakefield, wrote to John Cotton appealing for aid on behalf of Islamic Relief, the international relief and development charity, following the tragedy.

John Cotton responded immediately, and has donated the duvets to Islamic Relief, which is sending aid to some of the worst affected areas.

Phil Atherton, sales and marketing director at John Cotton, said: ”All staff were deeply saddened and moved by the recent events in Asia and so were keen to help survivors of the tragedy in any way possible.

“With nearly all of the survivors losing their homes and still without shelter, we felt the duvets will help protect against the extreme weather conditions and freezing night time temperatures.”
