Beware of '˜possible rogue traders' in Lower Hopton, police warn

Police are today warning residents to be wary of possible rogue traders operating in the Lower Hopton area of Mirfield.

Two males driving white vehicle are said to be examining roof tiles and advising work should be carried out before providing extortionate quotes to vulnerable people around Spinners Way.

Dewsbury and Mirfield Neighbourhood Policing Team made a post on Facebook which said: “Beware – Possible Rouge Traders in the Spinners Way area of Lower Hopton, Mirfield.

“Two males in a white flatbed type vehicle are examining roof tiles and advising work is carried out and providing extortionate quotes, once the quote is refused they flee leaving no contact details.

“They are targeting vulnerable residents. Please always ask for identification and check they are from a reputable company.

“If you have been approached by these males or have any sightings of suspicious persons and vehicles please call West Yorkshire police on 101 giving any person/ vehicle descriptions and registration plate details if possible.

“In the case of an emergency please ring 999.”
