The display in Fieldhead includes a six foot fibreglass snowman, which used to be part of the Blackpool Illuminations, and a Santa Claus on the chimney pot.

Andrew said the number of lights and decorations had built up since 2000, with sons Adam, Leam, Luke and Sam helping as they got older.

“I just want to say Merry Christmas to everyone who knows the Watsons, that’s all!” said Andrew.

Neighbours and strangers alike love the lights, he added, and the family have even made new friends through the display.

“A lady from Birkenshaw called round about five years ago. She liked the lights that much she left my children some presents on the doorstep,” he said. “It’s good to see new faces.”

The decorations take about three days to put up.

Andrew’s favourite is the six foot snowman, which he got for £10 from a farmer and re-paints every year.
