Children learn family history on forces day
Local Muslim places of worship organised a number of special activities for their Maddrassah pupils to mark ‘Armed Forces Day’ by teaching them about the interesting and diverse colonial history of the British Army going back nearly 200 years.
The new “Our Shared History, Our Shared Heritage” exhibition showing archive photos of the old ‘British-Indian Army’ fighting alongside white English soldiers during the First World War, is one of the many different resources being used by Mosques to teach children as to why today’s Armed Forces are just as an important part of our society as they were a century ago.
