Oakwell Hall at Birstall will be rocked by the sound and fury of an English Civil War battle on the weekend of September 12-13. Members of the English Civil War Society will be re-enacting the Battle of Adwalton Moor, while other actors will portray members of the Batt family, the house’s owners. and their servants preparing for the upheaval to come.
Visitors will be able to see pikes, muskets, cavalry and artillery in action, as well as meals and court hearings from the period. The re-enactors take pride in their authenticity and they encourage the public to handle the weaponry on display.
Entry tickets include access to the living history camp, battlefield and house. Advance discounts are available, with family tickets starting from £20, adult passes from £8 and children £4.
