Mr Currie said: “It is a privilege to receive the award for the FRG. It is great recognition for an innovation.”

The company which specialises in valves and gaskets for industrial equipment, was given the award for one of its latest inventions, the FRG gasket, which helps repair damaged heavy machine parts without the need for replacements.

Mr Currie invented the gasket, and added: “It is great recognition for an innovation which addresses a major issue for the industry.

“It limits the amount of initial corrosion and vastly reduces the lengthy and costly processes involved, which are carried out in extreme environments.”
