Cleckheaton gang attack victim recovering in hospital

A man who was attacked in Cleckheaton yesterday has had his condition changed from ‘critical’ to ‘serious’.

The man suffered serious head injuries following an attack by a gang yesterday afternoon at the Cleckheaton Mills complex on Bradford Road.

The man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where Police have confirmed that, while his condition is still serious, he is now showing signs of improvement.

The incident happened around 2.55pm.

Two men from the Leeds area, aged 18 and 55, have now been arrested in connection with the incident and are being questioned by officers. Forensics officers have been at the scene along with police officers today.

One ambulance and a rapid response unit were dispatched to the scene.

Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or have any information, to call the non-emergency 101-number.
