A new art exhibition inspired by folk music opens next month in the home of one of folk’s most prestigious festivals.
The paintings by local artist Cath Everett will be on display at Matthew’s Coffee House in Market Street, Cleckheaton, from September 9 to October 19.
Cath, whose work ‘Folk at Play’ will be on view at the coffee shop’s community art space, said: “I am involved with the folk music scene and art, so I combine the two by drawing people at folk clubs and festivals.
“I work best when I draw and paint from the life, with direct observation. I am interested in the way hobbies and interests have become the focus for modern day ‘tribes’.“
Cath’s work is also inspired by gardening, burlesque and amateur dramatics.
A ‘Meet the artist’ event will be held at the coffee shop on Tuesday September 10 between 6pm-8pm.
