Fundraiser Hannah Davies knows just how important the work of MacMillan Cancer Support is to families.

She has supported the charity’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign for several years as thanks for the care given to loved ones.

On Saturday she teamed with the Alma Inn in Thornhill to host a coffee morning, auction and open mic night.

Hannah, 18, has previously hosted events at her home in Partridge Crescent.

“We raised nearly £350 more than last year,” she said. “I’m happy with how it went, especially the total raised.”

The event has raised £580 so far with more money due from the sale of sports tickets.

St Peter’s Church in Earlsheaton raised £460, residents at the Tentercroft retirement complex in Dewsbury collected £571 and the Bretton Street Enterprise Centre in Savile Town topped £400.

Friends Ellie France and Bethany Wood collected £270 during a coffee morning at Upper Hopton Cricket Club.

Reader Rachel Smith was also delighted with the turnout for a coffee morning at her home which raised £264.
