Commemorative post to remember much-loved pets

A commemorative post has been installed in a Cleckheaton park to remember much-loved four-legged-friends.

The Friends of West End Park group have recently installed commemorative benches and planted trees which people have dedicated to their deceased friends and relatives. And now, after calls for a way to remember pets too, the group has placed a wooden stake in the park, which they have called ‘the last post’.

Those who use the park are invited to attach a dog tag to the post with the name of pets they enjoyed the park with.

The group hopes it will be a way for pet-owners to remember the animals, alongside the “dignity of the human memorials.”
