Community role honour

A BUILDING society in Dewsbury has been rewarded for its work in the community.

The team at Yorkshire Building Society’s branch in Church Street received an Excellence In Community award in recognition of its numerous charitable and community activities throughout the town.

Members of staff from the branch have been busy during 2012, raising hundreds of pounds for charities including the RNLI and NSPCC with a variety of fundraising activities.

The team was presented with the honour at the Kirklees Responsible Business Awards, which were hosted by Kirklees Council.

Branch manager Richard Sanger said his team were delighted to have received the community award.

“This last year we have been determined to make sure we are doing our part to support our community, donating our time as well as money where it is needed the most,” he said.

“One of the best things we’ve achieved this year is the development of new relationships with many local charities and good causes that I hope will continue to grow, and we will continue to support through 2013 and beyond.”
