Cousins prepare for Earlsheaton Technology College prom with broken legs!

BROKEN legs weren’t going to stop this determined duo from celebrating the last day of school with classmates.

Cousins Ebony Rylah-Smith and Ellisia Harris risked missing the Earlsheaton Technology College prom after each broke a leg within seven days.

But last Friday, they donned their finest party dresses as planned and hit the dance floor.

Ebony’s mum, Diane Parkinson, said the girls had a whale of a time – despite the crutches.

She said: “Their friends sat them in the middle of the dancefloor with their crutches and danced round them all night!”

She said the prom was extra special for Ebony because if fell on her 16th birthday.

The duo’s bad luck began on May 25 when Ebony fell while wearing a towering pair of wedges and broke her left leg.

And things went from bad to worse last Thursday when Ellisia, 15, set off after school to help look after her cousin.

While heading round to Ebony’s home in Bendigo Road, Ellisia hopped over wall, slipped over and broke her right leg.

Diane said it had come as no surprise to the family because the girls had always done everything together.

She said “They’re very close. They’re like sisters really.”

The girls both work at Gresham’s cafe in Dewsbury where their misfortune has become something of a talking point.

But it could be some time before they’re ready to wait tables again – both girls have already fallen off their crutches...
