Police warn of ‘too-good-to-be-true meat’

Police have asked anyone offered a meat deal that seems to good to be true to get in touch.

The appeal follows the burglary of commercial meat supplier Cross’s Pork Butchers in Central Street, Dewsbury.

The break-in happened on during the night on Monday January 19 when larges quantities were stolen.

Insp Jenny Thompson, from the Dewsbury Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “It is likely that this meat is now being sold across Dewsbury. Are you a butcher who has been offered meat for sale at very low prices? Or has someone come up to you in the pub and offered you meat for sale at a price you wouldn’t normally pay?

“If you have I would urge you to stop and think before you buy it – if a deal sounds too good to be true then it usually is.”

Anyone with information can contact the police on 101.
