The bike and vehicle collided and the cyclist was thrown to the ground and knocked unconscious.

He suffered several injuries to his face.

Several people helped him at the scene, but the driver of the vehicle, believed to be a blue or burgundy colour, failed to stop.

PC Andrew Senior of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhoods Support Team West, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area during the latter part of the morning to think back and try and remember if they saw anything which may help us determine the full circumstances of what took place.

“A number of people stopped to assist the cyclist, and he would like to express his thanks.

“We continue to appeal for anyone else who may have seen either the cyclist or the vehicle before the incident, the collision, or vehicle involved to come forward.

“I would also appeal directly to the driver of the vehicle to come forward to police. Enquiries are continuing.”

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact PC Senior via 101.
