Dewsbury couple share their big day with Prince William and Kate Middleton

WHEN Lynn Hood and Dave Housecroft set the date for their big day, they had no idea that they would be sharing it with one of the most talked about couples in the world.

But just six weeks after they announced their April 29 wedding, Prince William and Kate Middleton followed suit.

Lynn, 41, said: “We got it booked and the royal couple announced it would be on the same day.

“They should be getting Lynn and Dave commemorative mugs made really!”

Tomorrow, the couple will be married at Dewsbury Register Office before a reception for family and friends at the Black Bull in Birstall.

“We knew it would be the Easter holidays so a lot of friends and family would be off work but having a public holiday means everyone can come,” said Lynn.

“We’ve got a red, white and blue theme for the reception and we’ll be having a toast to the royal couple on the day too.”

The couple will be jetting off to the Maldives at a later date for their honeymoon.

They have chosen the islands for their first holiday as husband and wife because it was there that Dave popped the question for a second time.

They had already been engaged for a while when they decided to take a holiday at the island resort in May 2007.

Dave, 48, said: “I’d been thinking about proposing again for some time and I thought there’s no better place.”

With the help of staff at a beachside restaurant, he arranged a proposal under the stars to rival the movies.

Dave said: “Lynn thought we were just going to the restaurant but I wanted to do the one knee romantic thing.”

His bride-to-be was ushered to a private table on the beach and to Dave’s relief she said yes for a second time.

With their wedding now hours away, the couple can’t wait to be married.

Dave said: “I can’t be nervous for being excited.

“Tuesday was the first time I felt the butterflies.

“I’m sure it will get worse on the day.”

Lynn, who lives with Dave in Brewerton Lane, Westborough, added: “I think it’s a mixture of being nervous and excited.

“I bet William and Kate have got more butterflies. We’ve not got millions watching us!”
