Dewsbury wedding designer nominated for national award

Aqilah Laher creates wedding invitations, banners and other products from her Oldroyd Way home under the Galleria Designs brand.

Her ideas have now been shortlisted in the Best Stationery Supplier category at the annual Asian Wedding Awards.

She has run the business for two years alongside her freelance contract work as a graphic designer, and is now looking forward to the awards ceremony at the Renaissance Hotel in Manchester next week.

The awards recognise the booming Asian wedding industry, and are now in their third year with 18 categories up for grabs.

Everyone through to this stage should be very proud of their achievements and I can’t wait to see the results at the awards ceremony,” said Aqilah, who also offers bridal hair and make-up packages and designs chocolates for wedding parties.

The ceremony is co-organised by wedding planner Juel Khan.

“Our nominations have increased and the level of quality we have seen is simply mind-blowing; we are looking forward to a great event,” she said.
