Dog stolen in knifepoint robbery in Birstall

A woman was threatened at knifepoint and had her pet dog stolen during a robbery in Birstall last night (Friday).

A man entered her house on Branwell Avenue at around 10.35pm and demanded that the victim hand over her dogs. He threatened her with the knife before putting her two-year-old French bulldog into a basket. He ran off through the front door, taking the dog and an iPad.

Police are appealing for information following the incident.

The suspect was white, around 5ft 6inch tall, of medium build and was wearing a dark blue bomber jacket, dark blue jeans and a blue woolly hat with a white zig-zag design. He also had something, possibly a balaclava, covering his face and wore white motorbike-style gloves.
