Every week he will give us his take on life in and outside school from his home town of Dewsbury.

Mr Mitchell’s first column will be in the Batley and Birstall News next Thursday, and in the Dewsbury Reporter, Spenborough Guardian and Mirfield Reporter next Friday – and it’s sure to provoke some debate.

Reporter Series deputy editor Kate Wobschall said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Mr Mitchell will be writing for us and sharing his thoughts on life both inside and outside the school.

“The teachers and pupils of Thornhill Community Adacemy captured the nation’s hearts through Educating Yorkshire and it was wonderful to see Dewsbury portrayed in a positive light.

“Mr Mitchell himself is definitely a bit of an icon thanks to the programme and his column is sure to be extremely well read.”
