Expansion celebrated by surgery

A MEDICAL practice is looking to the future after opening a new extension to one of its surgeries.

The Albion Mount Medical Practice hopes the addition of a pharmacy and new waiting room and reception will help to turn its surgery, in Albion Street, Dewsbury, into a one-stop service for patients.

Dr Hanume Thimmegowda said: “This is part of a modernisation to create a one-stop surgery.

Patients can come here to see the doctors and nurses then go to the pharmacy upstairs.

“We also hope to improve further with occupational therapy and physiotherapy in the future.”

The extension and new facilities were part-funded by NHS Kirklees.

They were officially opened by the Mayor of Kirklees, Coun Eric Firth, who grew up nearby.

He was presented with a picture of the Springfield Congregational Chapel which once stood on the site.
